The Kaduna State Peace Commission was inaugurated by Malam Nasir El-Rufai, Governor of Kaduna State at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna on Thursday, 2nd November 2017 enacted by the Kaduna State Peace Commission Law, 2017 that came into operation on the 29th May, 2017.
For Kaduna State to become a peaceful and inclusive state to all members of community, with increased socio-economic opportunities for all, trust and tolerance among communities.
To monitor, mitigate and prevent conflicts with the view to promoting peaceful and harmonious co-existence in the State.
The primary objectives of the Commission are:
- The adoption of proactive measures in the development and implementation of strategies that would promote peace and harmonious co-existence;
- Conflict prevention
- Non-violent intervention, mediation and peaceful resolution of conflicts and disputes at communal and inter-group levels across the State.
- Impartiality, fairness, transparency, justice and the protection of human rights; and
- Public participation, respect for diversity, and peaceful co-existence.
